Our take

The A1 brings Bambu’s ecosystem to a classic bed-slinger format: a full 256mm print area, 500mm/s speeds, 10,000mm/s² acceleration and completely hands-free calibration. The optional AMS lite adds four-color printing. It’s effectively a bigger, cheaper A1 mini — and one of the best values in the catalog.

Pros

  • 256mm build area under $300
  • Full-auto calibration in minutes
  • AMS lite multicolor option
  • MakerWorld ecosystem + polished app

Cons

  • Open frame — ABS/ASA not practical
  • Bed-slinger limits very tall, fast prints
  • No enclosed option

Verdict

The best sub-$300 printer for most beginners: full-size bed, Bambu speeds, zero fiddling.
